Biomechanical Engineering Research Lab
Welcome to the official webpage of the Biomechanical Engineering Research Lab at Western University. We use a combination of sophisticated computational biomechanical modelling techniques and in vitro experimental analyses using a state-of-the-art six degrees-of-freedom (6-DoF) joint motion simulator to study the biomechanics of human joints and implants.
Current projects are focusing on the contributions of poorly understood ligamentous structures to healthy and injured knee biomechanics, how surgical approach affects the biomechanics of total knee replacements (TKRs), and developing a more compliant and biocompatible stem for shoulder replacement implants. Further details can be found on the "Research" page.
The highly qualified personnel working in our lab are masters and doctoral graduate students from Mechanical and Materials Engineering and Biomedical Engineering. We also hire undergraduate research students in the summer. You can find bios of current and past team members on the "Lab Members" page.
Our labs are located in Thompson Engineering Building (TEB 306) and University Hospital (CLL-100). You can find out more about the capabilities of either of these labs on the "Lab Details" page.
Finally; we are always interested in recruiting new team members. If you are interested in graduate studies, or joining the lab as an undergraduate member, please email me.
Thank you for visting our page!
