Green Hydrogen Production from Reforming of Bio-oil
Abstract:
Green hydrogen produced from bio-oil steam reforming can produce 4,800 tons of hydrogen per year. The bio-oil will undergo pre-treatment, followed by a catalytic steam reforming process in a two-step reformer reaction system. The product gases will undergo a water gas shift to maximize hydrogen yield. The final hydrogen stream is purified using a pressure swing adsorption process where 99.999% hydrogen purity can be achieved. Carbon dioxide produced during the process will be separated, stored, and transported for sale. This process is generally quite green as it is carbon neutral, however, there are waste streams involved in the process consisting of wastewater, waste gas, and exhaust gas, which will be utilized to the fullest extent to minimize the carbon footprint.
