I am a Professor of Engineering at Western University and direct Advanced Robotics and Mechatronic Systems laboratory. I develop new robotic systems that can work and assist people in factories, farms, and homes in their day to day activities.
I received my Ph.D. in robotics from The University of Western Ontario, London, ON, Canada in 2005, and was the recipient of the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) postdoctoral fellowship award in the same year. I joined the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Western University in 2006 where I am currently a full Professor. In my research, I study new approaches required for enabling collaborations between humans and robots to perfrom common tasks. I use these approaches to develop new robots that can assist humans in farms, factories, hospitals, and homes to address complex socioeconomic issues of modern life.
I am a member of Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), Robotic and Automation Society (RA), Institute for Earth and Space Explorations, and a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario (P.Eng.). I am an Associate Editor of IEEE Robotics and Automation-Letters (RA-L).
