Why Western Engineering?

I chose Western Engineering because it combines strong academics with a vibrant community. The supportive environment, chances to explore innovation, and exposure to real-world engineering challenges and researches make it a perfect place to grow. Thanks to student clubs, events, and plenty of fun, I always feel balanced. The collaborative culture instantly feels like home while still pushing me to be my best! Not to mention, it's ranked among the top 1% universities worldwide!

What do you do in your spare time?

When I’m not tinkering around with PCBs and Arduinos, I love to do yoga, bake, dust off my dance lessons and practice, embroider, and just hang out to recharge. I also love starting a new series (preferably a zombie apocalypse one!), and enjoy volunteering. For me, it’s all about balance—mixing creativity, curiosity, and fun, just like in engineering, where every little piece plays a part in something bigger!

What was your orientation week experience like as a first-year student?

NEWS! I actually came to campus two weeks late—so no O-Week for me! If you were on the same boat and missed all that fun, don’t worry—it’s not the end of the world… just the end of the week! Very shortly, I celebrated my own version of O-Week exploring campus and fun activities with my friends, attending info sessions and connecting with classmates and upper years who made me feel instantly welcome- a reminder that Western spirit isn’t limited to one week—it’s alive year-round!

Why did you choose your specific stream of engineering?

I chose Electrical Engineering because circuits, power systems, and electronics have always fascinated me. The journey from solving simple circuits on paper in school to now spending most of my day studying and working with them, understanding how those tiny components bring big computers, screens, and machines to life, has been truly inspiring. Given how this field powers modern society, with applications across nearly every sector and diverse career paths, I didn’t have to think twice!

What is your favourite book, movie or TV show?

My favorite movie has to be The Maze Runner -it's packed with twists, power of determination and teamwork, and figuring out challenges under pressure! The movie was a package of almost everything I look for- both in movies and in life. It’s gripping, keeps you on the lookout, and teaches you that even when the path seems impossible, curiosity, courage, and sticking together can guide you through. Plus, a bit of mischief and grit makes the journey even better!
