Tsunami Relief Efforts |
An
international conference hosted by the ICLR on water-related
disasters, held only two weeks before the south Asian earthquake and
tsunami struck on December 26, is sending a strong message that more
must be done to mitigate the loss in property and life from such
disasters around the world.

Western
Engineering can contribute to the tsunami relief efforts in many
other ways as well. We have expertise in areas such as: power
systems, energy management, earthquakes and soil stability, energy
from biomass, structural engineering, wind engineering, fluid
mechanics, among many others. In addition, our own students have
created a local chapter of "Engineers Without Borders."
If you have any
suggestions on ways that you can contribute to the tsunami relief
efforts, please contact your Department Chair. Dean Berruti is a
member of the Western tsunami relief committee.
Any suggestions you share with your Department Chair will be passed
along to Dean Berruti to share with the committee. |
