Western Engineering awards announced
Ralph Buchal, Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical & Materials Engineering and Director of the Integrated Engineering Program has been
named the recipient of the
R. Mohan Mathur Award for Excellence in Teaching.
Jin Jiang, Professor in the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering has
been named the recipient of the
Engineering Prize for Achievement in Research.
Barry Kay, Associate Director for Western Engineering's Information Technology Group (ITG)
been named the recipient of the
Sharon A. Ling Award of Excellence for Outstanding Achievement by a Staff Member.
Frederick Keenan, Adjunct Research Professor in the Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering has been named the recipient of the
Engineering Award of Recognition
All recipients will be honoured at the 2009 Faculty and Staff Award Luncheon to be held on May 6 from 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm at the Great Hall.

Announcements
ICFAR welcomes new staff members
Pina Sorbara will join the ICFAR team April 1 as the Financial Administrative Assistant. Pina comes to Western Engineering from Western's History department, where she worked as a Financial Assistant. Also
joining the ICFAR team, as the Administrative Assistant, is Christine Ramsden,
who for many years has been an Administrative Assistant in
Western Engineering's Dean’s Office. Christine will officially join ICFAR, effective April 6, 2009.
Western Engineering welcomes Qingfeng Li
Effective April 1, Qingfeng Li will begin work as a Jr. Research Engineer, in the Electrical & Computer Engineering department, working with Jin Jiang and his research group. His role will be to assist Jiang, NSERC/UNENE Industrial Research Chair, to carry out research in control, instrumentation and electrical systems, manage the laboratory facilities and work with graduate students.
