The Control and Welding Research Lab was established in Jan, 2004 as a part of Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at The University of Western Ontario, and is located in Thomson Engineering Building. The Lab is founded and directed by Dr. L. J. Brown, Assistant Professor of Electrical Engineering.

Research/Expertise

Research conducted in this lab is focused on applications of advanced control techniques to periodic disturbance cancellation and intermittent control, music transcription, power supply for spot welders, monitoring and estimation and control of resistance spot welding process.

Facilities

The lab is equipped with advanced instrumentation, Real-time simulation software and hardware: D-Space,  Matlab, Spot welding guns (donated by Toyota), Micro-welding gun, workstations running on Windows & Linux fedora platform.
