Do you remember when you decided you wanted to pursue engineering? What sparked your interest?

Throughout high school, I always enjoyed math and science, finding joy in applying knowledge to solve problems. I quickly realized that pursuing engineering could blend my love for problem-solving with making a positive impact. Whether it was through hands-on projects or theoretical challenges, the satisfaction of creating solutions that help others fueled my desire to pursue engineering.

How do you manage school-related stress?

To manage school-related stress, I prioritize balancing my time studying with things I love to do. Even if I have a lot of school work, I play my intramural soccer games every weekend, hang out with my friends, and spend time outside. Another thing I think is very important for stress management is getting enough sleep, as it helps me stay focused and energized. This combination of physical activity, social time, and rest keeps me grounded and reduces my stress.

What is your favourite quote?

My favourite quote is a little silly, however, it's something I’ve loved ever since I was a little girl. The quote is “Don’t let anyone dull your sparkle”, and it reminds me to believe in myself and don't let anything dim my light. I hope this quote reminds you to dream big and work hard, our future is not guaranteed, and it is up to us to shine bright and sparkle.

Favourite study spot on campus?

My favourite study spot on campus is the International Building. It’s really quiet and peaceful and has nice green spaces along the main area. It’s also not close to any food spots, so I’m not tempted to buy lunch!

Can you talk about your extra-curricular activities at Western? Why would you encourage students to get involved in extra-curricular activities at Western Engineering?

At Western, I play intramural soccer, which is both fun and a great way to stay fit. My team is a little competitive, so you’ll see us wearing purple shirts around campus at the end of the season! Last year, I was a first-year ambassador for the Women in Engineering Club. If you're considering engineering, I highly recommend checking out the club—it's a fantastic community for women in the field. I encourage students to get involved in extracurricular activities at Western because it's a great way to meet new friends and build a sense of community.

What is success to you?

To me, success is finding what you’re passionate about and having a reason to get up each morning with motivation. It’s about pursuing fulfilling goals and liking what you do every day. Success also involves helping people and making a positive impact with what you do. It’s not just about making a personal impact, but also about finding joy in what I do.
