Why Western Engineering?
I was drawn to Western Engineering because of the student community and culture that encourages collaboration within the program to support each other achieve excellence. This was important to me because I wanted to know my peers got my back and vice versa.
What do you do in your spare time?
In my spare time, I like to explore the city of London by discovering new hiking trails or parks where I can sit on a bench and indulge in a nonfiction novel. I’m also a sucker for rock climbing to get some movement in, to hang out with friends, and to manage stress in a fun way.
What was your orientation week experience like as a first-year student?
Since my first year was during covid, I did not get to experience oweek the way that many of the years succeeding has. Nevertheless, I remember making the most of my first week at Western by attending the resident and faculty events with my roommates and having a blast meeting new friends. One of my favorite activities was Just Dance at night in the parking lot with a crowd of students!
Why did you choose your specific stream of engineering?
I chose Integrated Engineering as my top pick because I was drawn to the cross-disciplinary aspects of learning a wide variety of disciplines even after taking first year general engineering. I wanted to continue expanding my breadth of engineering foundations coupled with the ELI courses that focus on developing leadership and innovation skills.
What is your favourite book, movie or TV show?
One of my favourite TV shows to binge or help me wind down for the day is Modern Family. I’ve watched all the episodes and it never fails to make me laugh.
Who do you look up to/admire and why?
I look up to my internship supervisor because of his drive to make impactful change and passion for bringing in new technology to the organization. He was also one of the hardest working people I know that welcomed challenges with open arms.
