Why Western Engineering?
I chose Western Engineering because of the wide range of opportunities that it offers. For example, because Western Engineering has a common first year I was able to explore various different courses based on the different specializations to see which one best suited me. In addition, I chose Western Engineering because it allowed me to combine my interest in Engineering and Business together with Ivey through the dual degree program.
What do you do in your spare time?
In my spare time, I love to unwind by spending time with friends by playing different sports. Most of the time this includes badminton and basketball, however recently this has also started to include pickleball. In addition when I’m at home and not with friends I often turn to watching youtube or reading a good book to relax.
What was your orientation week experience like as a first-year student?
As a first-year student, orientation week was an incredible experience for me to meet and connect with a diverse group of new people. The numerous events organized for the engineering faculty as well as for the different residences helped me make new friends, all while being able to engage in fun and exciting activities. In addition, the information seminars provided me with valuable insights into what the upcoming school year would be like and tips on how to succeed.
Why did you choose your specific stream of engineering?
The reason why I chose mechatronics is because of the unique opportunity that it provides to continue to explore multiple disciplines like electrical, mechanical, and software. I’ve always enjoyed working with these areas individually so being able to combine it all into one was something that was super appealing to me. In addition, mechatronics opened the door to a wide range of industries like robotics or automation that I have also always been drawn to.
What is your favourite book, movie or TV show?
One movie that has quickly become one of my favourites is “Spider-Man Into the Spider-Verse”. Part of the reason why I loved this movie so much is because of the amount of detail that went into the animation. I love how everything flows so smoothly while also maintaining a distinct comic book style. In addition, I also felt that all of the characters were written well, each having their own unique personality and backstory.
Who do you look up to/admire and why?
The person that I look up to the most is my father. This is because he is someone who has always been there for me to provide unwavering support and guidance, shaping who I am today. His incredible work ethic and perseverance has helped him in achieving so much, and I also one day hope to replicate these qualities.
