Do you remember when you decided you wanted to pursue engineering? What sparked your interest?
I've always been passionate about understanding how things work, building new things, and developing creative solutions. There is something exciting about facing a challenge and figuring out how to solve it with the materials and resources at hand.
How do you manage school-related stress?
I organize myself by creating monthly calendars with all the assignments, midterms, and exams. That way, nothing sneaks up on me, alleviating the stress of not having things done in time or missing an assignment. Additionally to being organized, I enjoy cooking to decompress and reading a good book.
What is your favourite quote?
“It does not matter how slowly you go as long as you do not stop.” – Confucius
Favourite study spot on campus?
My favourite study spots on campus have to be the 4th-floor ACEB and DaVinci’s in the Spencer Engineering Building. The 4th floor ACEB is my favourite for group projects with its large tables and many outlets! DaVinci’s is the best place to spend time in between classes, heat up food, catch up with friends, get a sandwich, and review class notes.
Can you talk about your extra-curricular activities at Western? Why would you encourage students to get involved in extra-curricular activities at Western Engineering?
I have been involved in various extracurricular activities in the past couple of years, including the Women in Engineering Club’s Big Sister Little Sister program, Eng Squad, intramurals, and participation in the Western Engineering Competition. I would encourage students to get involved in as many different activities as they can. These activities will help you meet many new people inside and outside your discipline and help you acquire new skills without even realizing it!
What is success to you?
Success means consistently striving to put your best foot forward and always giving your best effort. It's about always striving for continual improvement. As long as you're trying your hardest and learning from each experience, growth will happen.
