What do you do in your spare time?

I enjoy working on electronics and mechanical projects. In high school, I built a solar power system using repurposed hybrid-bus batteries and spare solar panels, providing backup power during outages. During my gap year, I worked in a mechanic shop, learning more about industrial equipment and engines.

Fun fact about yourself?

I was born in the UK and moved to Canada in 2014 when my parents relocated for work. I visit the UK yearly but also recently became a Canadian citizen. Growing up, science and engineering documentaries in the UK sparked my interest in how things work and led me to where I am today.

Experiential learning experiences

During my gap year, I worked hands-on in a mechanic shop, solving problems and designing equipment for customers. I also traveled to Southeast Asia, experiencing different cultures across Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, and Indonesia, gaining significant life experience in a short time.

Study tips for current/future students

I use Google Calendar to schedule study time, along with breaks and exercise. For exams, I make spreadsheets listing topics, marking them red, yellow, or green based on understanding. This helps focus on areas needing the most attention as I study.

Residence experience

As a first-year student in Saugeen-Maitland Hall, my experience has been great. I’ve made an amazing group of supportive friends. Residence life has eased the transition away from home during my first year.
