As someone who has always had a curious mind, I love how diverse engineering is. The sector is incredibly broad, and an engineering degree can often open doors to various other industries.

Why Western Engineering?

Engineering was always a field that I considered studying throughout high school, but I was never certain of the type of engineering. Western’s first-year general program caught my attention because it allowed me to pursue a degree in engineering without immediately committing to a specialized path. This approach gave me the flexibility to explore my interests in engineering while allowing me to make a well-informed decision about my future without rushing into a degree I wasn't certain about.

What do you do in your spare time?

In my free time, I love being outdoors with friends. Whether we’re travelling, hiking, fishing, or playing sports, it’s always a great time with them.

What was your orientation week experience like as a first-year student?

My orientation week was an incredible experience. It provided a great opportunity to meet new people, especially those in my program, and helped me get used to university life. Western's orientation week is truly special, and the engineering faculty makes it unforgettable with its unique and wild approach.

Why did you choose your specific stream of engineering?

I chose mechatronics with the AISE concurrent degree because it blends mechanical, electrical, and software engineering. I like the flexibility of this degree and the diverse range of topics it covers because it allows me to explore different fields like robotics, automation, and artificial intelligence.

What is your favourite book, movie or TV show?

Pixar’s “Cars” is definitely my favourite movie of all time. I was six years old when I first watched the movie, and since then, I’ve seen it at least ten times.

Who do you look up to/admire and why?

My parents are two people that I look up to because of how hard they have worked to give me the opportunities that I have today. They have taught me that success is a product of hard work and perseverance, and their example motivates me to work toward a future that makes them proud.
