Q&A with Robert Meneguzzo
Residence has been awesome ever since I came to Western. I was able to make so many good friendships at my residence and I absolutely love the environment here.

Why Western Engineering?
Western Engineering is a dynamic program with many opportunities inside and outside the classroom; especially through our various dual degrees. We are also one of few schools in Canada to offer Integrated Engineering as an option come second year. I chose Western Engineering to pursue Integrated in combination with the Ivey School of Business HBA. I have a great interest in the physical sciences as well as business, so Western really had the best program for me to succeed in.
What do you do in your spare time?
I try to spend most of my time with family or with friends. When I have time to myself though, I'll typically relax and listen to music. Music is one of the most important things to me so I'll probably listen to one or two albums a day. Other than that, I always stay active whether it be working out at the gym or going for long walks. I also enjoy shooting around at the basketball court, and when the NBA season starts, I will always be tuning in to watch a game regardless of who's playing.
What is a fun fact about yourself?
Earlier this year I set the record at my high school annual “Pi Day” competition by memorizing and reciting 1000 digits of pi. Currently, I do NOT have 1000 digits ready to go — but I could probably recite 70 or 80.
Can you talk about your experiential learning experiences (co-op, internship, ELI, PEME, Global and Intercultural Engagement Honour etc.)?
In my last year at high school, my friend and I competed in a DECA Project Management business written case competition where we ran a club at our school that connected high school students to their universities of interest. We organized university tours and documented our revenues and expenses. Not only did this experience give me real-world accounting experience, but it also allowed me to practice analyzing our financial statements and use that analysis when making decisions for our club.
Study tips for current/future students?
Get organized. It is one thing to work hard, long hours — however, the system that allows you to plan how you spend your time will determine how effective your studies are. I recommend keeping a visual schedule of what work is due in the short-term through sticky notes or reminders on your phone. Also, use your calendar and record the dates of assignments, quizzes, labs, and exams ASAP. This way, you can clearly see what work requires your attention the most, and you will be ready for anything.
Can you talk about your residence experience?
Residence has been awesome ever since I came to Western. I am currently living in Essex Hall, and I must say that it has been even better than I was hoping. My three roommates are all very fun people, and we get along great. Even then, having many other people in Engineering on my floor has been so invaluable. Late night study groups are way easier when you meet in the lounge just down the hall. I was able to make so many good friendships at my residence and I absolutely love the environment here.
