Floryan receives Humboldt Research Award

J. Maciej Floryan, Professor and Department Chair of Mechanical and Materials Engineering, has been elected the recipient of a Humboldt Research Award. The award is given by the Humboldt Foundation of Germany to honour the academic achievements of the award winner's lifetime.

Floryan was nominated for this award by a German professor. The nomination addressed: (i) international reputation of the nominee, (ii) his discoveries/ recognized theories/ insights-findings of his lifetime achievements, (iii) his publications in recent years and the impact of his research on the special discipline as well as broader scientific area of the nominee, (iv) his current and future activities, and (v) reprints of some of his most important works.

The Foundation consults with external referees which must include at least two additional German professors and well as at least three referees from a variety of nations (preferably from different continents).
