Join Women In Engineering
The Women In Engineering executive would like to
invite all female students (undergraduate and graduate), faculty and
staff to become members of Women In Engineering (WIE).
The group is student-run and works
to empower and encourage current and prospective female students in
the field of engineering, by providing support and opportunities to
increase confidence in a fair environment.
WIE is happy to announce they plan to run a
Mentorship Program for first-year female engineering students once
again this year. Mentoring is an act of sharing and can be a
powerful, dynamic stimulus to personal growth and development for
those who are involved. It is an excellent way to become an active
member of WIE. If you are interested in participating, please visit
http://www.eng.uwo.ca/wie and click on the Mentorship Program
link. Application forms are available online or contact Savitri
Samaroo at
ssamaro2@uwo.ca.
The WIE website (http://www.eng.uwo.ca/wie)
will also be used as the groups’ main form of communication. Current
information online includes: the 2005-2006 executive and the group’s
goals and objectives. A copy of the most recent constitution can
also be found online.
The WIE executive has some great events lined up
for this upcoming year. The Web site will be updated regularly to
provide date announcements for general meetings, events and current
affairs. Everyone is encouraged to attend meetings and share ideas
and suggestions with WIE.
The success of the WIE Mentorship Program, or any
other event, is dependent on its members’ participation. Your
feedback is appreciated. If you have any suggestions, ideas or
questions please contact any of our executive members or email
ssamaro2@uwo.ca.
