2005 Engineers
Without Borders National Conference
Wednesday, January 19 – Saturday, January 22
VancouverNine members of
the EWB Western attended the
2005 EWB National Conference in Vancouver, British Columbia. The
conference was a resounding success.
Delegates studied impact models, examined case
studies, heard about numerous ongoing projects and were even
treated to a heated debate on ‘Fair Trade’ from representatives of
the Frasier Institute and Oxfam. An address by Dr. Lloyd Axworthy,
former Canadian Foreign Minister and Noble Peace Prize nominee,
closed the conference and helped to generate the excitement that the
Western delegates have now brought home to London.
The electric atmosphere generated by the 22 university chapters is
now in the process of being applied. EWB Western will continue to
increase their presence on campus. Keep an eye open for all
the events that this dynamic chapter will be bringing you in the
following months.
