Bio-Engineering Building Demolition
Prof. M. Bergougnou stands outside the demolition site.
On Thursday, February 14, 2008, demolition of the Bio-Engineering Building began. The building, which was originally built as a temporary facility, is being removed to make way for the construction of the new Claudette MacKay-Lassonde Pavilion.
Workers spent nearly two weeks carefully pulling down sections of the structure, and hauling scrap away for recycling. A piece of the Bio-Engineering Building will remain in operation until construction of the CMLP is complete in 2009.
A live webcam has been set-up to allow people to follow the progress of the CMLP as construction gets under way in earnest now that the site has been cleared. To read all about the CMLP, Western's first LEED (Leadership in
Engineering and Environmental Design) certified facility, visit the
CMLP Homepage.
