Joel Eckert joins the IT Group in the new position, Desktop Support Specialist
By Audrey Korol
Joel Eckert, Western Engineering’s new Desktop Support Specialist.
It just got a lot easier to find an answer to your computer-related questions at Western Engineering. Joel Eckert, the Faculty of Engineering’s newest staff member, recently joined the Information Technology Group (ITG) in early January as the Desktop Support Specialist.
As the new Desktop Support Specialist, Eckert will be the first point of contact for all faculty, staff and students for any computer-related inquiries.
“People can come to me if they have any computer-related technical questions: from problems logging on to your computer, to problems printing or problems using the Internet,” says Eckert.
Eckert will also be responsible for leading the launch of Western Engineering’s Help Desk, which will begin operating mid-February.
If individuals have any general or specific computing questions, Eckert says to visit him in his office in SEB 1010A-1 and he will direct them to the right place. Otherwise, individuals may reach him by phone (ext.
88112) or email at ithelp@eng.uwo.ca.
Eckert comes to Western Engineering from Protek Systems in London where he
provided technical support to a diverse client base.
“I’m excited to be here at Western,” says Eckert. “I look forward to the challenges that this new position will bring.”
