Martha Fediw, Western Engineering's new Research & Graduate Manager
Martha Fediw recently joined the External Services unit as the Research & Graduate Manager in the Faculty of Engineering. This is a brand new position and Martha will be reporting directly to the Associate Dean, Research & External Relations, Dr. El Naggar.
Martha is a Western Engineering alumnus (1996) in Mechanical and Materials Engineering. Since graduation, Martha has worked extensively in industry, most notably at Pratt & Whitney as a Design Engineer, at Ford as a Product Design Engineer and for the past six years at Siemens VDO as an Advanced Purchasing Engineer. Her most recent position at Siemens was as a Product Quality Manager where her primary responsibilities included leading several cross-functional teams (around the world) to ensure flawless launches of new programs and products with companies such as BMW, Ford and Chrysler. Martha was identified as a top leader in her organization and was selected by Siemens to complete her Green Belt training, Shainin
Red X training, and Critical Thinking for Leaders training.
Martha’s primary responsibilities as Research & Graduate Manager will be to facilitate and enhance faculty members’ research opportunities and activities, including identifying sources of research funding from government and industry. Additionally, she will work closely with Dr. El Naggar to implement and monitor the Faculty-wide directions and initiatives relating to Graduate studies in Engineering.
Martha’s office is located next to Diana Lee in SEB 2003C and she will be working very closely with Lesley Mounteer and the rest of the External Services team.
