Nina Lowes selected as winner of the Engineering Award for Excellence for Outstanding Achievement by a Staff Member
Nina Lowes, Senior Academic Counselor in the Undergraduate Services Office, has been selected as the winner of the Engineering Award for Excellence for Outstanding Achievement by a Staff Member. This annual award honors a staff member’s significant contributions to Western Engineering.
Nina has been an Academic Counselor at the Faculty of Engineering for a period of over twenty years. During this time, she has demonstrated extensive knowledge of University procedures and policies, close familiarity with the files of individual undergraduate students, and a sincere desire to find the best solution to numerous operational problems. She has also contributed to the development of curriculum for all engineering programs by participating in a process of formal approval of numerous courses and programs, their calendar descriptions, distribution of information to students, and, foremost, advising students with proper career choices during their study at the Faculty of Engineering.
The magnitude and scope of responses to the nomination call are impressive. Nina received an overwhelming total of 43 letters of support in addition to 96 signatures of support. These letters and signatures came from faculty, staff, alumni, students, and members from the Western community. This indicates a deep impact Nina’s work has had on our students and Faculty.
