Residents Research Day
Darius Viskontas, a resident in Orthopaedic Surgery working under
the co-supervision of Jim Johnson, faculty member in the Departments of
Mechanical & Materials Engineering and Surgery, was awarded best research paper
September 23 at the annual Residents Research Day of the
Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the London Convention Centre.
Viskontas' paper focused on computer-assisted
knee alignment using an implant load sensing system, originally
pioneered and designed by fourth-year design students in MME (2000).
This topic was also the subject of two graduate theses (Sadie Roth,
2002, and Tom Skrinskas, 2004).
