Ontario Research Fund's Research Excellence (ORF-RE)
program
The ORF-RE program is a four-year,
$217 million fund to promote excellence in Ontario by supporting
leading-edge research, developing research talent and encouraging
partnerships between research institutions and business.
The ORF-RE program will fund direct
costs (including salaries and benefits, facilities and equipment,
management and administration) as well as indirect costs (the
overhead costs of doing research). It will contribute a maximum of
1/3 of the total project costs, with 1/3 of the remainder coming
from the private sector on 1/3 from the institution. While research
proposals in all disciplines are eligible, priority will be given to
those in targeted economic sectors. Proposals must include a plan
for youth/mentorship activities.
Applications will be judged on the:
· Quality
of research
· Development
of research talent
· Support
for commercialization and knowledge transfer
· Alignment
with key priority sectors
· Project
management
The closing round is September 30,
2005.
