Mini
Baja and SunStang unveil their 2005 vehicles
June 2005
Today’s Western Engineering
students continue to be highly ambitious. Every year, the Mega
Project teams (including Flying Mustangs, Formula SAE, Mini Baja and
SunStang) design and build a vehicle from scratch and participate in
competitions around the world.
At the end of May, the Formula SAE
team unveiled their 2005 vehicle —

past June, the Mini Baja and SunStang teams unveiled their 2005
vehicles.
The official unveiling of the
SunStang vehicle took place Monday, June 6 at the UCC in front of a
number of faculty, staff, students and media representatives.
“The car encompasses some of the
most advanced technologies available in industry today,” explained
electrical systems manager Tom Gwozdz.
On top of developing a solar
powered vehicle, the team strives to promote awareness of renewable
energy and inspire young minds. Although the primary focus is
the London community, events such as the High School Solar Challenge
have stretched across Southern Ontario.
The Mini Baja team, of
approximately fifteen undergraduate engineering students, proudly
unveiled their 2005 vehicle in the lobby of TEB Monday, June 13.
The team had just returned from an East Competition where they
placed 44th overall—click here to read more—and
were preparing for the much larger Midwest Competition in Troy,
Ohio.
