Western’s WSCE club ends Laval’s six-year winning streak at the CSCE Conference
The 2010 CSCE Conference ended in Winnipeg on June 12, 2010. At the closing luncheon, Western was awarded the 2009 -2010 CSCE President’s Award in recognition of the exceptional accomplishments of its CSCE Student Chapter.
Records show the University of Laval has received this award every year from 2002- 2003 to 2008-2009.
“I am not surprised the Western Society for Civil Engineering team took home the award this year as they have made tremendous strides,” explains faculty advisor Jason Gerhard. “The team has a larger and more active executive committee than ever before with exciting and ambitious plans for next year.”
To be eligible for the CSCE President’s Award, student chapters must submit a 3-page proposed plan for the academic year in the Fall. This is then followed up with a comprehensive report on the chapter's execution of the plan. The plan/report must include a list of events (such as education presentations, social events, competitions, etc.) and
a budget for the coming year. The Western WSCE club's final submission was over 100 pages in length, fully documenting their extensive activities within engineering and outreach to industry and the community.
