Canadian Society for
Civil Engineering Annual Conference
The Canadian
Society for Civil Engineering held its annual conference in
Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, June 2 -5th this year. Two of
our graduate students from the department of Civil and Environmental
Engineering were recognized at the conference. Jeff Nocent
won second prize in the Graduate Student Paper Competition for the
paper “Direct Measurement of Internal Loads in Wood Trusses”, and
Lisa Feldman received the Donald Jamieson Fellowship which is
awarded to an outstanding full-time graduate student in structural
engineering at a Canadian University, including a cheque for $5000.
The Jamieson Fellowship is the most prestigious structural
engineering scholarship in the country. There are now nine
recipients of the Jamieson Fellowship, three of which are at
Western: Lisa Feldman, Prof. Diana Inculet and Prof. Michael
Bartlett.
