Boris Jackman, BESc ’72 to receive L.S. Lauchland Award at Homecoming

Boris Jackman, BESc ’72 will be presented with the L.S. Lauchland Award at the Homecoming Engineering Alumni Party at Chancey Smith’s on Saturday, September 29 at 6:00 p.m. Jackman, Executive Vice-President, Downstream is accountable for the establishment and achievement of all Downstream business objectives of Petro-Canada. He joined Petro-Canada in 1993 as Vice-President, Western Region. In 1996, he was appointed Vice-President, Central Region, and in 1998, Executive Vice-President.

Prior to joining Petro-Canada, Jackman served as the Executive Vice-President of First Brands Canada Corporation. Prior to 1986, Jackman spent 14 years at Union Carbide Canada Ltd. in various management and technical positions.

In addition to his professional association commitments, Jackman is an active volunteer in his community providing strategic leadership for a number of organizations including the 2007 United Way Campaign, the Yee Hong Centre for Geriatric Care, the Prostate Cancer Research Foundation, Ryerson University and Western.

The L.S. Lauchland Award was initiated in 1976 to mark the retirement of Professor L. Stuart Lauchland, past President of the A.P.E.O. The Committee inaugurated a series of medals to be presented annually unless it decides that in a particular year no suitable nominations have been received.

Western Engineering alumni, faculty and staff are invited to submit nominations for this award each year.
