First-Year Engineering Students Tackle Global Issues

First-year engineering students showcase their four-person space conscious shelter for Angola.

First-year students in the Faculty of Engineering are providing solutions to the challenges of a developing world as part of the ES050-Engineering Design and Innovation Studio. (more)

The Engineering students will present their final design solutions, in the form of prototypes and posters, at the ES050 Design Showcase on April 10, 2006 in the Great Hall. Members of the university community, as well as the public at large, are cordially invited to participate in this event. This is a great to meet the engineers of tomorrow to discuss the role of design innovation in society.

Awards & Accomplishments

  • WETT places second in Canada
    Determined to surpass their accomplishments from last year, the Western Engineering Toboggan Team (WETT) took second place in Montreal at the annual Great Northern Concrete Toboggan Race. (more)

  • Mini Baja car can 'talk' to you
    The Faculty of Engineering's Mini Baja competition project is once again motoring along, this year implementing something revolutionary in the design. (more)

  • Western engineering students to volunteer overseas
    Sarah Takaki and Ricky Patel, members of Western's Engineers Without Borders, plan to work with professional engineers in different countries for four months after the charitable organization recently awarded them voluntary positions. (more)
