  • Emitting success
    The Ontario Global Traders Awards (OGTA) recognized Rafiq Qutub, a Western Engineering Chemical and Biochemical engineering student for the work he has done on the Ontario Emission Trading Program. (more)

  • Working to improve system restoration
    Although we were all in the dark in August 2003, thanks to the massive blackout that hit Ontario and several states, the incident shined a light on Dr. Tarlochan Sidhu’s research. (more)

  • CEE Members Receive CSCE Honours
    Dr. Michel Bartlett, Dr. M.A. Samad and Dr. E.K. Yanful have been recognized by the Canadian Society for Civil Engineering. (more)

  • UTEK Completes Technology Transfer with Trio Industries Group, Inc. - media release
    UTEK Corporation, an innovative technology transfer company, and Trio Industries Group, Inc. , an integrated manufacturer of finished household cabinet components that will utilize innovative surface coating finishing and manufacturing processes, has announced that Trio Industries Group Inc. has acquired Ultra Fine Coating Systems, Inc. in a stock transaction.

    Ultra Fine Coating Systems, Inc. holds a license to an innovative powder coating technology developed at The University of Western Ontario which allows for the complete fluidization of ultra fine particles down to nanometer size. (more)

  • Boundary Layer Wind Tunnel tests skyscraper responses in Chicago - article from Civil Engineering magazine
    In a new study, three Chicago skyscrapers have been equipped with accelerometers and Global Positioning System (GPS) receivers to collect data under wind loads. Researchers from the University of Notre Dame and The University of Western Ontario's Boundary Layer Wind Tunnel Laboratory are comparing data with predictions derived from computer models and wind tunnel tests.   • Financial Services says goodbye to Joan and hello to Jennifer

    After 18 years with the Faculty of Engineering, Joan Tangen has decided to retire. Over the years, Joan has provided support to faculty, staff and students in many roles with he Undergraduate Services Office, Department of Mechanical and Materials Engineering, and most recently Financial Services. The Faculty wishes Joan all the best with her future endeavours.

    As Financial Services says goodbye to Joan, they also say hello to Jennifer Maxwell. Jennifer is joining us from the Central Purchasing Department on a secondment until the end of the summer. She will be located in SEB 14B.
