Sulaiman Aburakhia

Biography: Sulaiman received his B.Sc. degree (Hons.) in electrical engineering from October 6 University, Giza, Egypt, in 2003 and his M.Sc. degree in electronics and communications engineering from the Arab Academy for Science and Technology and Maritime Transport, Alexandria, Egypt, in 2007. He is currently pursuing his Ph.D. in software engineering with a focus on leveraging machine learning and signal processing to develop power-efficient and computationally efficient data-driven vibration-based condition monitoring algorithms. Sulaiman has solid hands-on experience in the telecom industry, as he has worked for several consulting firms and vendors in the mobile radio industry. His current research interests include signal processing for Machine learning (ML), the Internet of Things (loT), vibration-based condition monitoring, and Smart Manufacturing (SM).
Ibrahim Shaer

Research Interests / Specializations: Machine Learning, Smart Factories, Anomaly Detection, Explainable Artificial Intelligence in High-Dimensional Spaces
Biography: Ibrahim Shaer received the B.S. degree in Computer Science from the American University of Beirut in 2017 and the M.E.Sc. degree in electrical and computer engineering in from the University of Western Ontario in 2020, where he is currently pursuing the Ph.D. degree in electrical and computer engineering. His research interests include applications of machine learning in industrial buildings, anomaly detection, and explainable artificial intelligence in high-dimensional spaces.
Fatemeh Dehrouyeh

Research Interests / Specializations: Cybersecurity, Tiny Machine Learning, Large Language Models, Explainable Artificial Intelligence
Biography: Fatemeh's academic journey began at Khajeh Nasir Toosi University of Technology (KNTU) in Tehran, Iran, where she completed both my Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Electrical Engineering. Her specialization during her master's was in Communication Systems, building upon her undergraduate focus in Telecommunications. Currently, she is a Ph.D. student in the OC2 lab under the supervision of Dr. Abdallah Shami, and her research revolves around the innovative intersection of cybersecurity, Tiny Machine Learning (TinyML), Large Language Models (LLMs), and Explainable Artificial Intelligence (XAI). This work is particularly focused on the Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure (EVCI), blending these advanced technologies to address critical challenges in smart urban ecosystems.
Ali Chouman

Biography: Ali Chouman received his B.ESc (2020) and his M.ESc (2022) in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Western University. He was the recipient of the UWO Gold Medal in Computer Engineering. Ali is currently persuing his Ph.D. and his research interests include ML/AI, Intelligent Networks, Data Privacy, and AI Ethics.
Nadine Charaf

Research Interests / Specializations: Quantum Machine Learning, Quantum Optimization, Operations Research
Biography: Nadine graduated from the American University of Beirut in 2023 with a BS in Applied Mathematics and a Minor in Computer Science with High Distinction. She is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering at Western University. Her Research areas are Quantum Machine Learning and Optimization.
Gabriella Gerges

Research Interests / Specializations: Cybersecurity, Next-Generation Systems, EV Charging
Biography: Gabriella Gerges is an M.ESc student researching cybersecurity in Electric Vehicle Charging Stations. She graduated from Western’s Software Engineering program in 2023. She has extensive full stack development experience and has participated in numerous hackathons.
Alexandre Gemayel

Biography: Alexandre Gemayel received his Bachelor of Engineering in Computer and Communications from Notre Dame University - Louaize, Lebanon in 2021. He is currently pursuing his Master of Engineering in Electrical and Computer Engineering, specializing in Communication Systems and Signal Processing at Western University.
