Antimicrobial Wound Dressing

Open wounds including surgical wounds are susceptible to opportunistic infection. The incorporation of nanosilver particles, a well-established antimicrobial, leads to effective antimicrobial wound healing system. To ensure retention and sustained delivery of silver to the wound site and making use of the favorable wound healing properties of BC pellicles derived wound dressing, BC pellicles are chemically functionalized for the anchoring of silver nanoparticles. The product is effective against both gram positive and gram negative bacteria.
