The Department of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering at Western is one of the premier departments in Canada, providing a dynamic educational and research environment. Our primary mission is to educate students through discovery and dissemination of knowledge through research.
Our Department is committed to achieving excellence, innovation, and international visibility while providing a friendly and supportive research atmosphere. Our goal is to provide our students with strong fundamental knowledge complemented by practical professional training including communication and teamwork skills. Most of our professors work with global industrial partners, and therefore, can provide graduate students with an enriched research experience.
With the recent revolution in life science, nano-science and environment, Western’s Department of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering has expanded its traditional scope to include development of solutions to emerging problems in green technologies and processes, nanotechnology and biomaterials, biotechnology and biomedical engineering, and alternative and renewable energy systems.
Canadian Graduate and Porfessional Student Survey
The Canadian Graduate and Professional Student Survey (CGPSS), which is administered every three years, is the largest graduate student survey of its kind in Canada, and is designed to provide universities with information regarding the quality of their graduate programs as assessed by their own graduate students.
Graduate student responses are important. A high survey response rate provides a more representative picture of our graduate population, and helps all of us understand what we’re good at and where we can improve. Graduate students who complete the survey will be eligible for one of three $1,000 cash prizes.
Survey launched on February 3, 2025 and will be open until February 28, 2025.
