Centrifugal Spinning

Starting with the concept of cotton candy making, a centrifugal spinning machine was designed and built. This machine is capable of producing polymer microfibers from polymer melt. Product fibers are being investigated for various applications including controlled release, implantable and hybrid medical devices.
