Undergraduate Co-Op
Beginning in the fall of 2026, each year you apply to the co-op program, you will indicate whether you intend to pursue the "With Co-op" degree plan. This degree plan requires the successful completion of a minimum of three co-op work terms before graduation. If you intend to pursue the "With Co-op" degree plan, you will be automatically placed into the corresponsing acadmeic plan for your undergadaute degree (e.g. B.E.Sc. Software/w Co-op) once your first co-op work term has been secured and registered through Engineering Career Services. If you complete the minimum of three co-op work terms before graduation, you will automatically be set to graduate under the "With Co-op" degree plan.
However, if you do not complete the required three co-op work terms, you will be moved back into the regular Bachelor of Engineering Science degree plan and will graduate without the co-op designation on your degree. Please note that being placed in the "With Co-op" degree plan after your first secured term does not guarantee that you will graduate with a co-op designation. To remain eligible, you must continue to meet co-op program requirements and apply to the co-op program each year to receive approval from Engineering Career Services to pursue co-op work terms and work towards the minium three work terms.

Co-op Experience and Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) Licensing in Ontario
Beyond the invaluable practical experience and competitive salary gained through co-ops, it’s noteworthy that experience obtained before your graduation date may be applied towards the Competency-Based Assessment (CBA) if it meets the criteria set out by the Professional Engineers of Ontario. This would be in addition to needing to obtain two-year of work experience after your graduation date.
