Effective July 1, 2018, Dr. Jeff Wood assumed the role of Associate Dean, Undergraduate Studies in the Faculty of Engineering for a five-year term. Wood will take over for Dr. Michael Bartlett, who served in the role for the past five years.

Wood is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical & Materials Engineering (MME) and served as the Associate Chair, Undergraduate for MME for nine years between 2008 and 2017. He is an accomplished instructor and researcher in the material structure-property relationships and lightweight structural materials field, delivering courses in the MME core program, graduate courses, as well as a first-year Materials course.

Wood’s role will support Western Engineering’s nine core engineering programs, as well as the Undergraduate Services Office, which provides academic counselling to students.

“Accreditation is going to be a big aspect of our teams’ undertaking this year,” said Wood. “I’m also excited for the changes and challenges that lie ahead with the new School of Biomedical Engineering opening and the launch of our Centre of Engineering Leadership and Innovation.”

Through his leadership and academic administrative experiences, Wood will undoubtedly be advantageous for Western Engineering as the Faculty moves forward with its ambitious undergraduate program plans.
