Engineering Co-op Program
The mission of Engineering Career Services is to provide professional career planning and job search assistance to Western Engineering students. We strive to connect students with compatible employers in order to provide specific experience and training related to our students’ career aspirations. We serve as a medium for students to locate interested employers, while providing guidance for resume development, cover letter writing, interview techniques, long-term and summer co-op opportunities, and other specific aspects of career planning.
Western Engineering recognizes every student has a different career plan. With that in mind, we offer two types of co-op opportunities:
Long Term Co-op Program
Work on advanced engineering projects in a paid position, from start to finish, after you have completed three years of study. Long Term co-op offers longer work terms, providing you with more extensive work experience. Western Engineering works with national and international companies to ensure a wide variety and complement of engineering work opportunities for our students.

Summer Co-op Program
Work during the summer months (May to August) and gain valuable real-world experience in a paid position. When you complete a co-op you will gain career-related work experience to enhance and build on your university learning experience. Co-op’s are flexible – you can complete one every year or choose to complete just one during your time at Western.
