CSME Student Design Poster Competition
Canadian Society for Mechanical Engineering (CSME) would like to invite Canadian engineering undergraduate students to take part in the CSME National Design Competition to be held at 2019 CSME-CFDSC International Congress. This competition will showcase outstanding undergraduate student Capstone design projects from across Canada. Students will have an opportunity to network with their counterparts from across the country, gain valuable presentation experience, and participate in, and attend a professional national conference.
Students are required to submit an abstract, poster and short video before the competition. The poster and video will be displayed at the Congress. Attendance of the conference is preferable but not required.

Prizes
Prizes will be awarded at the Congress banquet for: Best Video ($500), Best Poster ($500) and Best Overall Design ($1000).
Eligibility
- Posters can be submitted by individuals or teams of up to 6 students.
- All team members must be registered students or have been registered students in an engineering program at a Canadian university in 2018-19.
- Students must have built and tested a prototype of their design.
Abstract
The abstract should include a description of the problem, a summary of the design goals and constraints, and an overview of the designed solution. The abstract should be no longer than 400 words.
After submission of the abstract, students will receive a confirmation of acceptance to the competition, or a feedback regarding any changes that need to be made to their abstract to be accepted.
Poster
The poster should highlight all steps of the design process, and any other relevant analysis. The poster should be at least 24” × 36” and no larger than 36” × 48”.
Video
Students should prepare a short (3-5 minute) video, which presents their design. Both video and poster will be exhibited at the conference.
Judging Criteria
Judging will be done by a panel of distinguished judges based on the following criteria.
