CSME Student Paper Competition
Canadian Society for Mechanical Engineering (CSME) would like to invite Graduate students to take part in the CSME Student Paper Competition to be held at 2019 CSME-CFDSC International Congress. This competition provides an opportunity for students to showcase their research and communications (oral and written) excellence. Students will have an opportunity to network with students, researcher and industry professional from across the country.
Students are required to submit outstanding research papers (using the Congress paper template) and must fill the appropriate field during paper submission to indicate that the paper should be considered for the Student Paper Competition.
Important Dates
Paper submission: February 1, 2019 Deadline extended to February 15, 2019
Notification to Authors: February 28, 2019
Announcement of the Competition Results: June 4, 2019
Prizes
Prizes will be awarded at the Congress banquet for top three Best Papers; First ($1000), Second ($750) and Third ($500)
Eligibility
- Must be registered as Graduate Student at a university
- Must be the First Author of the paper
- Must be the Presenting Author at the Congress
Evaluation Criteria
The evaluation will be based on the quality of (i) the submitted paper and (ii) presentation at the Congress, and will be judged by a panel of judges.
Paper evaluation will be based on:
- Scientific value and originality of research
- Organization of research
- Appropriateness of research methodology
- Background literature
- Strength of conclusions
Presentation evaluation will be based on:
- Originality
- Purpose
- Methods
- Conclusions
- Presentation visuals
- Answering Questions
