We hope that you find the information below helpful.

The timetable for fall/winter is available in Draft My Schedule.

ENROLLMENT DATES & APPOINTMENT TIME

Two to three days before the enrollment start dates for your year, information on obtaining your specific enrollment start time will be sent to your Western email address.

*Your “appointment time” is the start date of when you can register for your courses.  You are able to register for your courses online until September 15, 2024.

*The “end date” is when the constraints are lifted, not the end of your registration period.  You are able to register for your courses online until September 15, 2024.

4th Year Students (July 8-12)
3rd Year Students (July 15-19)
2nd Year Students (July 22-26)

ADDING/DROPPING/SWAPPING COURSES

The Registrar’s Office has helpful information regarding Course Registration.  You can view here how to add/drop and swap courses.

How a dropped course will look on your Academic Record (Transcript):

dropping before add deadline done ONLINE through Student Centre: removed from record - like you never added it in the first place
dropping after add deadline but before drop deadline done on Student Centre: WDN - withdrawn - no academic effect - just shows that you added a course and dropped it before the drop deadline
dropping after drop deadline F - fail - will count as a 40% in your term/cumulative averages

The Student Central Helpline may also be able to assist in answering any questions you have.  You can chat with them live during business hours or fill out their virtual helpline request and choose course enrollment.

DRAFT MY SCHEDULE

Use this tool to help build an individual conflict-free class schedule. This can be found on your Student Center, Under Western Links: Draft My Schedule.

Please note that by doing your Draft My Schedule that this does not guarantee you will get those sections when your course registration time comes.

WHAT COURSES DO I ENROLL IN?

For a list of your required courses each year, please refer to the “What Do I Take Next?” pages on the Engineering website.

SPECIAL PERMISSIONS

You will need permission for various situations, such as registering in an increased load, enrolling in a course(s) without a pre-requisite, or asking for permission to get into a course/lab or tutorial that is full.

The special permission form is ONLINE!  It can be found HERE.  We will not be accepting emailed forms anymore.

Once you have filled out the online special permission form, it will be sent to your instructor, department and then to your Academic Counsellor.

Please note: If you do not enter all of the relevant information or your form is unexplainable for any reason, it will be returned to you to correct/complete/update...so please be as detailed as possible when completing this form.

The great thing with the online system is…you will get emails along the way so you know where your form is in the queue!

Once you receive Special Permission, you will need to check your Student Center under My Academics, “View Special Permissions”, to see when it has been loaded.

View Special Permissions

Once the permission is visible, FIRST try to add the course yourself on Student Center.  If that works, great.  If not, you will need to contact the Student Central Helpline.  You can chat with them live during business hours or fill out their virtual helpline request and choose course enrollment.

TIMETABLE CONFLICTS

You will need permission from both instructors of the courses conflicting as well as your department.

The course conflict form is ONLINE!  It can be found HERE.  We will not be accepting emailed forms anymore.

Once you have filled out the online course conflict form, it will be sent to your instructors, department and then to your Academic Counsellor.

Please note: If you do not enter all of the relevant information or your form is unexplainable for any reason, it will be returned to you to correct/complete/update...so please be as detailed as possible when completing this form.

Once you receive permission to have the conflict(s), you will need to check your Student Center under My Academics, “View Special Permissions” (see above in special permissions section for location) to see when it has been loaded.  Once the permission is visible, you will need to contact the Student Central Helpline.  You can chat with them live during business hours or fill out their virtual helpline request and choose course enrollment.

IMPORTANT NOTES

When your enrollment date arrives, when you go to enroll in your courses, please be sure to add all courses to your “shopping cart” before clicking on Finish Enrolling. This will clear up enrollment issues related to co-requisites (many Engineering courses have co-requisites, and you must enroll in them at the same time or you will get an error message).

If you do not see a course or section listed when registering, it usually means the course is either not offered or the section is full.  Please refer to the online timetable for more information.  There may be movement in the course(s) during registration, so keep checking periodically for open spots; however, if you are trying to enroll in a mandatory course that is full, contact your Academic Counsellor.

If you have a question not addressed in any of the information here, please contact your Academic Counsellor.  *Please ALWAYS use your Western email address and ALWAYS provide us with your Student Number.*
