Dr. Liu Speaks on AI & Sustainability at Huron Summit 2026

On March 31, 2026, Dr. Liu represented the SustainAI Group at the Huron Sustainability Summit 2026 at Huron University. This year’s theme, “Green Systems, Digital Power: Rethinking Sustainability in the Age of AI,” brought together speakers to discuss how AI and emerging technologies are shaping sustainability, decision-making, and the future of work.

Dr. Liu joined the Panel “AI and the Sustainability Paradox – Innovation and the Future of Climate Systems,” where panelists explored both the opportunities and challenges of AI in climate and sustainability. In the discussion, he highlighted the importance of looking at technologies through a whole-system lens — considering not only direct environmental costs, but also broader long-term benefits such as improved efficiency, reduced waste, better resilience, and more informed decision-making.

The event was a great opportunity to engage with students and fellow panelists on timely questions around AI, sustainability, innovation, and equity. We thank the organizers for the invitation and for creating such a thoughtful conversation.
