What is the Master of Engineering with Co-op Option?
The Faculty of Engineering offers graduate students the opportunity to participate in a co-op option for the Master of Engineering (MEng) program.
This option will allow MEng students to complete a co-op in an industrial organization to enhance experiential learning. By engaging in this program, students will acquire practical, hands-on experience that is directly applicable to the industry, fostering their professional growth and facilitating their career advancement.
MEng Students can opt-in for Co-op under the 2 following programs:
Master of Engineering (MEng) program
- Students registered in the MEng with co-op Option will finish their program in 4 terms.
- Students are required to complete the 3 academic terms of the MEng program followed by a single (4-month) co-op term.
- The Co-op experience takes place during the final program term.
Master of Engineering (MEng) – Graduate Diploma (GDip) in Engineering Leadership and Innovation program
- For students in the combined MEng -GDip program, who opt-in to the co-op option, will complete their program in 5 or 6 terms depending on the total lenght of the student's co-op placement.
- Students are required to complete the 4 academic terms of the MEng-GDip program followed by 1 or 2 co-op terms (4 or 8 months).
- The Co-op experience takes place during the final program term.

Who can participate and what are the eligibility requirements to participate in the program?
- Full-time MEng domestic and international students can participate in the program.
- Students must be in good academic standing and maintain a cumulative average of 75% or higher calculated in the term prior to starting co-op.
- Students are required to complete the necessary academic requirements of the MEng or MEng-GDip program prior to starting co-op.
International students must apply for a co-op work permit to be eligible to participate in the co-op program. Click here for more information.
How can MEng students apply to participate in a Co-op?

Students are strongly encouraged to submit their applications by the 30th of the first month in which they begin their program, whether it's in the fall (September), winter (January), or spring/summer (May)
What are the costs to participate in the program?
- Annual co-op application fee is $125 Dollars (payable when you apply).
- Co-op Tuition is $550 Dollars for every four month work term.
What does an employer expect?
Professionalism: Employers expect co-op students to conduct themselves in a professional manner. This includes adhering to workplace etiquette, maintaining a positive attitude, and demonstrating respect for colleagues and superiors.
