Program Policies
Any student who is approved to participate in the Master of Engineering (MEng) with Co-op Option program and who receives several offers in and turns them down without cause, will be withdrawn from the program and not permitted to apply for any additional postings.
Any student who accepts a co-op offer, and subsequently chooses not to proceed with the offer prior to the agreed upon start date, will be removed from the co-op program.
Any student who begins their Co-op placement and subsequently terminates their co-op early (without cause, as determined by Engineering Career Services), will be required to pay the full amount of tuition fees for any work terms started and/or completed, will be in consideration of being assigned an incomplete milestone for all works terms started and/or completed (at the discretion of Engineering Career Services).
Any student who has completed the probationary period, and whose co-op placement ended early due to economic, health, or compassionate reasons, will be required to pay the full amount of tuition fees only for work terms started or completed. In these cases, students will be assigned an incomplete milestone for any incomplete work terms and will receive a milestone completed on completed work terms (contingent on completion of co-op program deliverables).
Any student who is removed from their Co-op due to academic reasons (i.e. a scholastic offence) will be required to pay the full amount of tuition fees for any work terms started and/or completed.
The Co-op tuition is NON-REFUNDABLE. Late payment of the Co-op tuition will result in the accrual of late charges at the current university rate. Non-payment of the Co-op tuition will result in an academic seal.
All Master of Engineering Co-op Program participants must have successfully completed the academic requirements of the Master of Engineering (MEng) Program or Master of Engineering - Graduate Diploma (GDip) in Engineering Leadership and Innovation Program prior to starting co-op. It is the student’s responsibility to seek appropriate accommodations under the applicable policy if they are unable to meet the requirement of completing the MEng or MEng-GDip program prior to starting co-op. While completing a Co-op placement, students will continue to be subject to the provisions of the Code of Student Conduct. It is expected that students are mindful of being a representative of Western University and Western Engineering while out on Co-op. Students are responsible for their own actions while completing a Co-op placement and are expected to conduct themselves in a professional manner and abide by all terms and conditions of the employment contract signed with their co-op employer.
Students must notify Engineering Career Services (wecareer@uwo.ca or (519) 661-2111 x88359) if they are
experiencing difficulty, are terminated from Co-op employment, or are contemplating termination of a placement
prematurely for any reason.

Personal information such as your name and address and e-mail address will not be available to anyone beyond Engineering Career Services staff except when you take the initiative to apply to a job posting or submit your resume for viewing by participating employers.
Engineering Career Services will only use your personal information to facilitate your involvement in the work search and career development activities it offers as a part of its mandate.
