Discovery Western Summer Camp

At Discovery Western we believe that science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) is for everyone! The main goal of our camp is that our campers have fun! While we want our campers to learn something new through hands-on learning, we also want them to have fun and have the opportunity to explore science and engineering in a place where they can be themselves. Our camp blends favourite camp games and activities with science and engineering. Our science and engineering activities range from using technology, computers, and special equipment to everyday items you can find around your house.  We aim to show kids that everyone can be a scientist or engineer; no special equipment or prior experience required!

Campers will register based on the grade they will be entering in Fall 2025. Our camp groups are Senior Kindergarten (SK) to Grade 1, Grades 2 to 3, and Grades 4 to 6 along with designated “Just For Girls” camp groups. We also are excited to offer the Western Engineering Summer Academy for students in Grades 7 to 12 who are looking to explore engineering while learning more about the post-secondary experience.  

A sample camp day includes

- icebreakers and get-to-know-you games

- two nutrition breaks with a designated lunch break

- hands-on science and engineering activities

- crafts, games or other activities to reinforce the weekly themes and daily STEM learning

- physical activity and time to move whether it’s a walk, body break, swim time or camp game

- special events such as tours of on-campus locations or time to meet with an engineer.

Each camp week will have registration open on a unique day. Our camps fill up fast so please log in on launch day to secure your spot. Registration will open at 11:00 am.

Week 1 (June 30 to July 4) - Registration opens Monday, January 20th

Week 2 (July 7 to July 11) - Registration opens Wednesday, January 22nd

Week 3 (July 14 to July 18) - Registration opens Monday January 27th

Week 4 (July 21 to July 25) - Registration opens Wednesday, January 29th

Week 5 (July 28 to August 1) - Registration opens Monday, February 3rd

Week 6 (August 4 to August 8) - Registration opens Wednesday, February 5th

Week 7 (August 11 to August 15) - Registration opens Monday, February 10th

Week 8 (August 18 to August 22) - Registration opens Wednesday, February 12th

Western Engineering Summer Academy Registration Dates. Registration will open at 11:00 am.

WESA Week 1 (July 14 to July 18) - Registration opens Friday, January 24th

WESA Week 2 (July 28 to August 1) - Registration opens Friday, January 24th

WESA Week 3 (August 11 - August 15) - Registration opens Friday, January 24th

Tip: To make your registration process as smooth as possible, please take some time to either create an account ahead of the registration date, or to make any updates to your camper’s profile! Go to the Discovery Western Registration Portal to create or update your account. 

The cost of Discovery Western Summer Camp (SK - Grade 6) ranges from $275 to $325 based on the length of the week. The cost of WESA (Grade 7 - 12) is $350. Note: Programs for students in Grade 9-12 are subject to HST charges, which are included in your cost of registration.
